I spent the school year of 2008-2009 in Omaha, Nebraska. It may sound silly but
now I know that it was a life-changing experience, not only because of the opportunity to improve my English language skills but also because of faith and relationships. I had never expected that I could make close friends and keep in touch with them till now and even more so that I could have the best host family ever. They gave me the feeling that I am their own son and they are my own family. They took great care of me and because of them I was able to have an awesome year.
In January, a few days after Obama's inauguration, I had the opportunity to
participate in the March for life in the streets of Washington DC. It was an
empowering experience to see more than 12O thousand people marching against
abortion and I was glad I could be one of them supporting the pro-life movement.

I had the opportunity of spending a school year in the United States of America as part of the Global Outreach Program that our grammar school takes part in. I lived in an American host family in Wahoo – Nebraska, where I attended the local Bishop Neumann High School. I was involved in many activities that the school provided, for instance Cross-Country Running, Wrestling, participation in the Pro-Life Club, the Church Club and so on. All the American students and also the teachers were very open and helped me with the difficulties I faced during the year.
But my stay didn't just involve studying. I also had the chance to visit the capital of the USA, Washington D.C. or beautiful historical Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Though I spent only one year in the USA, I will always consider this country as my second home, not only because of the lovely host family that adopted me as their own son but also because of the experience it gave me of a typical American lifestyle and the different approach to faith that will influence my view of the world for the rest of my life.
