Náš debatní klub  ve složení Veronika Drobná SpB, Lucie Skalková SpB, Radislav Hošek 3.B a Jan Dlabáček SxA  o víkendu 22.-24.3.2024 reprezentoval naši školu na 3. turnaji Debatní ligy tentokrát v České Třebové. Turnaje se zúčastnilo 34 týmů z celé republiky a v obrovské konkurenci se nám alespoň jednou zvítězit podařilo. 

We are delighted to announce the opening of our latest theatre production, "Professional Foul", written by acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard. This performance, directed by our colleague Jarmila Sedláková, is proudly brought to you by the Bigy Players, a dedicated ensemble of Upper School students.

We would like to invite you to the 7th Annual English Theatre Festival, which will be held once again at the Barka Theatre from 4 to 15 March.

The English Department is pleased to announce an application process for a three-month stay at European secondary schools during the 2024/25 academic year. This opportunity is open to up to three current sexta and second-year students. The programme includes one placement for the autumn term at the secondary school Otaniemen lukio in Espoo (Helsinki), Finland, where English is not the primary language of instruction and two additional placements in another European country - possibly Denmark, Ireland, or Italy – available in either autumn or spring terms.

Students will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

• English language skills
• Overall academic performance
• Motivation
• Contribution to and representation of the school
• Personal qualities, behaviour, social skills, communication, responsibility, flexibility

How to apply for the selection process and what to expect?

1. Complete the online application form: here.
2. Send a motivation letter in English as an email attachment to petra.hanusova@bigy.cz by Friday 26.1.2024  (the letter should be a minimum of 200 words). The content of the motivation letter should include:

• A short introduction of yourself.
• A brief description of any extracurricular activities which you are involved in.
• Describe your contributions to the school's reputation: participation in competitions, projects, volunteering; work for the class, activity in the student parliament, etc.
• Explain why we should choose you for the scholarship.
• How do you plan to adjust to a foreign environment and living with a host family
